Setting sail in Spring 2022, Salamanca is the second of our brand new ships designed especially for our Portsmouth to Spain routes.
Following her sister ship Galicia, alongside sumptuous comfort and modern facilities, Salamanca will showcase some of the very best of Spain, with décor and dining inspired by her vibrant city namesake.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, the city of Salamanca sits inland in the heart of ‘old Castilla’ and boasts a plethora of elegant architecture and a fascinating history; with its old town streets feeling like a spectacular film set. All of which play a starring role in the ship’s interior design.
Like Galicia, Salamanca is built to impress with beautifully-finished interior spaces, cabins and a host of options in which to dine, relax and enjoy the ride. Perhaps even more significant however is her green credentials as the first ever Brittany Ferries ship to be powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas), making for a lower impact on the environment whilst also offering better energy efficiency.
Viva Espagne !
On board, Salamanca’s decks will take you on a journey inspired by the city itself. You’ll find light and spacious public areas, modern shopping, plenty of deck space and, of course, a choice of accommodation. To indulge you on your journey, Salamanca’s cabins (like Galicia) have the biggest bunks within the fleet, topped with our most comfortable mattress - not to mention a TV with free Video On Demand service.
Prepare your tastebuds! Salamanca will serve a range of authentic Spanish dishes - including a tantalising selection of tapas in our very own Taberna. What’s more, you can enjoy one continental breakfast and one dinner, all included in the price of your ticket when travelling to Spain*.
Our ships are like art galleries at sea. Continuing with this long-held tradition, Salamanca will host beautiful Spanish works inside and out, and more besides.
Powered by cleaner LNG (liquefied natural gas), Salamanca further demonstrates our drive towards more sustainable transport. This is a fuel which emits virtually no sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide or particulate emissions, following combustion. In addition, because LNG burns more efficiently than diesel, there is a reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) output of around 25 percent.
In addition to fuel, like Galicia, she has been designed with the environment and efficiency in mind. Her hull has been crafted to reduce drag and improve efficiency and her size means we can take more people and freight while burning less fuel.
There’s much more besides, like anti-fouling paint and ultrasonic transducers which reduce marine growth that can slow a ship and increase its fuel consumption. Whilst on board, single use plastics will be cut to a minimum.
