Normandie Express accessibility
Here we'll explain what you need to know about booking with us and what it's like to travel on board Normandie Express as a passenger with disability or reduced mobility.
Passengers with limited mobility will find the facilities and access more challenging to negotiate than our classic ferries because of the size and design of the high speed vessel. As parking is on an outside ramp Normandie Express is unable to accommodate vehicles that are over 1.83m high or are carrying pets, with disabled or reduced mobility passengers.

Whether you are travelling in a vehicle or as a foot passenger, if you have any special requirements, please let us know before you book and also when you check in.
Call Reservations on 0330 159 7000 to discuss options and book your sailing, especially if:
- You have reduced mobility / are in a wheelchair / use a mobility scooter
- Have a visual or hearing impairment
- Have a disability
- You require medical equipment (such as oxygen tanks)
Boarding the ferry
Please check in 90 minutes before departure.
With a vehicle
At check-in in the car lanes, the marshall will place a sticker on your windscreen so that our loading crew will do their best to ensure that you are parked on or near the ramp.
As a foot passenger
When checking-in at reception, we will advise you of the procedure for boarding. If you are a wheelchair user or have reduced mobility, we can usually arrange for you to be accompanied on and off the ship by one of our port staff.
When disembarking, please go to the Information Desk where the crew will arrange for someone from the port to come on board and collect you.
Wheelchair users & Reduced Mobility
Due to the ship's size limitations, Normandie Express does not have a lift. However, there is limited wheelchair access to the passenger decks via a ramp. If you need to use a wheelchair on board then please bring one with you.
Visual and hearing Impairments
If you have a visual or hearing impairment, please go to the Information Desk on Deck 7 when you board.
There is Braille signage for some services onboard but not all. Our crew are happy to assist you and can provide an Access Guide for Visually Impaired Passengers. We recommend travelling with a fully-sighted companion, if you feel you would need more assistance.
The crew will ensure that you receive all important messages made over the onboard speaker.

We understand that travelling with a child on the autistic spectrum can be daunting and stressful for both of you. At check-in, we can provide a booklet that explains the different stages of the sailing process using eye-spy style games to describe what they will see and hear.
