Hotel d'Anjou, Angers
France > Atlantic Loire Valley > ANGERS
Known as the city of art and history, there is lots to see and do in lovelyAngers, a university city on the banks of the river Maine. Full of stunningparks and gardens bursting with award winning floral displays, it has a compact centre that is easy to explore either on foot or by tram where the main focus is, of course, its famous château with its impressive 17 towers and Apocalypse Tapestry. After this you can admire the stunning 6 storey building known as Maison d'Adam, just one of the city's many beautifully preserved half timbered houses, or take a guided tour of the Cointreau distillery which ends in the bar with a sampling session. And, ifyou like museums then you won't be disappointed as there is a good variety although they are far too numerous to mention by name. The long established Hotel d'Anjou dates back to 1842 and is well placed in the heart of Angers close to the pedestrian area and the fabulous Jardin du Mail with its striking fountain. The comfortable accommodation is both sound-proofed and air conditioned and there is a friendly bar, splendid lounges and a terrace on the first floor. There is also a restaurant where you can enjoy good traditional fare. Garage parking approximately 12€/night.
