Customer Reviews

Nick & Margaret

Excellent location here for sightseeing. We have many lovely memories of our 2 week stay. Highlights include visits to Carnac, Huelgoat & the Valley of the Saints at Carnoët, all worth a visit. More locally and less 'touristy' we went to the Site de Quelfenec (beautiful walk through woods and fields to see Neothilic remains); Rohan (with gentle walk beside lake and canal); St Nicholas des Eaux (very pretty place) and on to St Gildas Chapel built into a rock; Bon Repos walk beside the lake (flat, wonderful reflections of trees in the waters). All in all, it's been a restful and exciting holiday. Many thanks to Lorna & Derek & Don for their help & fresh strawberries & beans.

We went to the 'Son et Lumière' as well and were pleased that we did. Unfortunately for future guests it ended during our time here, but please do look out for it in the future. We recommend the butcher in Mûr, particularly if you are looking for food for the BBQ (opposite the church). Enjoyed a walk by the Nantes-Brest canal in Pontivy, as well as local walks from here. Boat trip on the lake (3pm), aslo makes you realise just how large the lake is. Thank you Lorna for her warm welcome and telling us about the history of the area.

Our third visit to Ker Jean. Not quite as hot as last time. Brought our own bikes this time and enjoyed traffic free cycling to Mûr and Bon Repos. Lorna, Derek, Pat & Don have extended their usual warm welcome and it was good to catch up with what's happening in Caurel. Staying here is becoming the most enjoyable habit.

Arrived on our motorbike after a very wet journey to be met by Lorna bearing gifts - milk for a much needed cup of tea and bottle of wine for afters! The holiday cottage is perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday and being so near to the lake is a real bonus. There are plenty of walks from the cottage and we even tried our bikes in the shed. Enjoyed local markets and went south to Quiberon which has a lovely beach & lots of places to eat and clothes shop galore. The visitors' book has lots of information which helped us choose our days out enjoying the fantastic views as far as the eye can see. A true gem to find somewhere so relaxing - we've enjoyed our stay.

Of all the lovely old villages we visited Rochefort en Terre was our favourite. We started the day with a visit to Vannes with its amazing medieval centre, old city walls & formal gardens. In contrast we loved staying pretty local in this lovely, peaceful area, exploring the lake side places, Sunday Market & Abbaye at Bon-Repos. We recommend the excellent shop opposite Intermarché in Mûr, selling local foods & gifts. Thanks to Lorna for her warm welcome. We have enjoyed a super holiday.

Ker Jean is a lovely character gite with very pleasant private garden, all located in a beautiful quiet hamlet. This is an ideal base for a very relaxing week in central Brittany. Our week here has been very relaxing. We've enjoyed the food and wine. Fish and chips in Le Relais du Lac on Friday was excellent and the owners made us most welcome. The creperie by the lake is a must! The boat ride on the lake was enjoyable, worth the money despite the weather. Strolling around the Abbaye and Sunday market in the sunshine most memorable. Our longest trip to Concarneau, a walled town on the coast and back to Keriven via Pont-Aven, excellent. Most of all Ker Jean, so peaceful a truly 'secret escape'. Thank you Lorna & Derek - great hosts. We will return.

An excellently appointed gite in an amazing location of central Brittany. We covered several of the local numerous walks around this village and area. Along the bottom of the 'dried' Lac was spectacular knowing in just a few months all the view and historic cottages will be inundated yet again. Pontivy proved to be a gem, with a lovely little shop selling souvenirs, drinks and a varied selection of teas. We appreciated the warm welcome from Lorna and Derek.

It was a joy to find such a tranquil spot. Have had some lovely days out in the local area - amazing to see Lake Guerlédan empty - a once in a lifetime sight. Favourite place was Josselin with Chateau Rohan perched on the rocks overlooking the river - so picturesque. For a longer trip go north to the Rose Granite Coast - Ploumanc'h just west of Perros-Guirec. Our thanks to Pat & Don and Lorna & Derek, they were a mine of information about the area and so kind and helpful to us. Finally a big thank you to the owners of this super little gite for letting us borrow it for a couple of weeks.

We've had a very enjoyable week at Kerjean. This was our fourth visit and we decided to come again this year especially to see the lake when drained. We went on the English language guided tour from Tregnanton and found it excellent - very informative and fascinating. We did a fair bit of cycling visiting old haunts along the Voie Verte (disused railway), including Bon Repos and Mur de Bretagne. Lorna and Derek have been wonderful, helpful and friendly, as ever.

We have had a good holiday staying in this lovely cottage. Highlights of the holiday was visiting Josselin, a very pretty French town and having a look round the Musée des Poupées. Also Vannes was very interesting. Had a meal one evening at 'Le Vieux Moulin' food good and friendly staff. We enjoyed visiting 'Les Forges des Salles' a step back in time old iron village. The gite is very homely and well equipped.
