Customer Reviews

Jean & Roger Leyshon

Many thanks for a pleasantly relaxing week. Autumn brought its share of showers! We avoided the larger towns and cities meandering round the villages. No tourists this time of year, and quite a lot of attractions closed. Highlights Bon Repos. Carnac amazing, Pontivy charming, Lac Guerlédan stunning. Found a pretty port Le Bono, quite close to Auray, had a super lunch at Les Alizés. What a charming cottage is Ker Jean!

Thank you to Lorna for a good welcome! We have had a great time exploring near and far! Had two wonderful days on the coast at Port-Louis and environs. Had a lot of laughs in very French eating places and recommend Valfrescos for Sunday lunch/roast à la France! Lots to do and see even out of season in the rain (if you like walking!).

A cosy little cottage with a lovely small, private garden in a quiet hamlet. Peaceful yet within easy reach of restaurants and local facilities. Ideal for walking, cycling or using the car for more far reaching facilities such as towns, coast or supermarkets.

Beware several tourist places close after August Les Forges de Salles for example. Valfrescos only opens at weekends. We have had rain every day & the temperature has never reached 20°C. We have not ventured far. Gouarec is pretty and worth a visit. Pontivy is interesting with many old buildings and the Nantes-Brest canal. Valfrescos is the only place we have enjoyed eating, the crepes place in Mûr is fine for lunch.

We have had a wonderful restful week, walking, swimming and cycling in and around this beautiful area. Visited Pontivy market and managed to purchase a few items for my antique business. We loved Pontivy as it reminded us of Tavistock in Devon. Had some great lunches in Auray & we loved Bon Repos. It was always a treat to return to our gite as it is so cosy & rustic. We had a visit from a local dog, cat & many hopping toads.

We've had a great break & visited lots of places. Some are over rated but some are spectacular! These include: Josselin (make sure you do the tour around the chateau); Auray (go to the old part with the river crossing/bridge - absolutely spectacular); Dinan; Fougères (on your way home after you go through Rennes). Worth a visit are Ploermel, Pontivy, Vannes, Quimper, Brest (if you like naval things, go around the maritime museum). Don't miss a cruise on the lake, the electric museum, the abbey and Les Forges village - all down the road.

A very relaxing week. A mixed week weather, but this did not stop us enjoying some super walks in the local area. Thoroughly enjoyed the Son et Lumière at Bon Repos despite heavy rain! Thanks for the warm welcome.

Very relaxing break! The boat trip around the lake is a must, followed by a meal and a drink at the Bar. Lovely area and warm welcome by Lorna.

We have had a fabulous week here in central Brittany. What a wonderful area for walking. Also the Nantes-Brest canal is beautiful too. Further afield we visited Pontivy (Monday market) & Quintin. And always Ker Jean gite was lovely to come home to. Very well equipped and very comfortable. We have met friendly local dogs (including Emil at the creperie) also a deer in a nearby field, and the most friendly cat who guided us around Keriven.

Had a delightful week's stay. We ate in the cottage every evening but most afternoons we ended up at Beau Rivage for a beer. We also hired a 2 person kayak for 2 hours - very relaxing. We visited the barrage & the electric museum & were invited to a free 1 hour concert - people were very friendly. Walked to Anse de Sordan (very peaceful) and cycled to Guinec via Bon Repos & the canal (café by the bridge at Guinec). Lovely walk up from Bon Repos. Thanks to Lorna & Derek for quickly retaining a puncture bike tyre & also for advice regarding a local doctor who speaks English. Altogether, a delightful holiday!
