About Fest Jazz

The festival's big pluses are the breath-taking riverside site, where the acts are spread over five stages all within easy walking distance, and the choice of programme, designed to be popular, dynamic and appeal to all generations. The wonderful mix of ages in the crowd shows that the policy "Woodstock rather than conservatoire" works. There is a basis of traditional New Orleans, but the international line-up takes in blues, swing, and Django Reinhart style "manouche".

While seeking out the best musicians currently making waves, the festival also boasts a youth policy. Some of its former young discoveries, like internationally respected trumpeter Malo Mazurié, who first played in Chateauneuf as a 13-year-old, come back year after year just to be part of the atmosphere.  In 2016 artists include, from Sweden, the amazing Gunhild Carling, the wonderful vocalist Ola Onabulé, the young street band from New Orleans, Frog and Henry,  as well as young and up and coming groups like  Shades, the spectacular pianist, Ben Toury, Dorine de Wit and Jamie Brownfield from the UK and the Sweet Peppers from the south of France and there are dancers everywhere!  Fest Jazz is a swing dancers' paradise.

Apart from the music, the festival boasts international cuisine (including curry!), real ale (from central Brittany's own Coreff brewery), Breton crêpes (of course!) and a top quality French restaurant.

Great music, a brilliant atmosphere...who could ask for more?!
