Do I need a breathalyser and what else do I need to take to meet the legal requirements of driving in France and Spain?
Whilst the law itself is still in place stating that it is compulsory to carry breathalysers whilst driving in France, the authorities are not issuing fines and enforcement of the law has been postponed indefinitely. This is due to problems with the supply of suitable breathalysers.
We continue to recommend that you still carry breathalysers and we will inform passengers as soon as we know of a date for the re-introduction of the fines. At the present time they are not required in Spain.
